Which is excellent news for sensible people everywhere.
History tells us that freaks like ASH turn up every 80-90 years, cause mayhem and suffering, then disappear after 10 years or so. These puritans and moralists disguise themselves as knights in shining armour on a holy crusade. In their (tiny) minds, the end always justifies the means. Without a shred of scientific, or even logical, evidence, all they bring is destruction and misery. Naturally, they earn a fortune for interfering in peoples lives. Money is their only motivation.
In this particular report ASH Ireland, have noticed that the youth specifically, and the public generally, have decided that they will choose when to quit smoking. Not the zealots. (Although it took some time to discover the truth, the same pattern emerged in Scotland, and in England smoking amongst males has increased and smoking amongst females has stayed the same). Having destroyed thousands of historic Irish pubs and clubs, they change tack. They are now whining about smokers in cars.

Today we also learnt that the Germans have won a decisive victory for liberty, as the law courts there have handed down a ruling that smoker bans are a) unconstitutional b) grossly unfair and c) unjustifiable. Common sense has raised its head at last, and we salute it.
The same will happen here. But not before we have some more blood on the carpet. Our inept government, who enacted a spiteful smoker ban, which can only be described as the greatest act of stupidity since they took office, will watch from the wings as our hospitality industry continues to be butchered needlessly. They cannot see what we can see; the carnage, growing daily. And why should they even look? They live in heavily subsidised ivory towers. Not for them the £3.50 pint of beer. Lordy no. We, the taxpayers, seem delighted to ensure they have access to beer at £1.30 a pint in Westminster Palace. The cheap beer may have something to do with the gormless decisions they keep making, day in and day out.
Back to Dr Angie. Despite ASH shrieking for ever more draconian anti-smoker legislation, the Irish government have ignored them. God Bless the Taoiseach! For once they seem to be learning that there is zero scientific evidence for a ban on people smoking in cars. And they would be correct.

How, exactly, did you come by these figures?
We ask because we have around 11 million smokers in the UK. Smoking is blamed, without any concrete evidence for 87,000 deaths. Treatment for mythical "smoking related diseases" costs around £1.5 billion per year.
And you are seriously telling us that Irish smokers cost "billions of euro" to treat? In a population of 4.1 million people?
Absolute garbage!
If you want the Taoiseach to take you seriously, you might want to try telling the truth for a change.
Irish smokers, like British smokers, are taxed punitively. This punitive taxation ensures not only that they pay for their treatment, but also that for every operation/treatment we need, we pay for six other operations/treatments. The financial argument, like the scientific argument, does not hold up. They never have.
We have yet to be thanked for the thousands of procedures we have paid for. And you call us selfish!
Blinkered, small-minded, tunnel-visioned freaks. Every damned one of you.
