Welcome to the Scottish section of F2C.
We are a small group that came into being in July 2006. We quickly found the Fife Smoking Action Group, based in Glenrothes, Fife, and
have worked together on the submission of our respective petitions. In the general election three of our members stood for election
in Parliament polling at least 1,000 votes each after a late start to the electioneering period, entering the fray just over 4 weeks
before the election. Throughout, we have been following up the progress of our petitions, attending two committee hearings where we
were not allowed present any evidence. We also organised a demonstration outside the Edinburgh International Conference Centre to
greet delegates of the anti-smoking conference: Towards a Smoke-free Society, which made TV news.
We have held one fundraising function, distributed badges and done some local advertising too.
We are a small but dedicated group, looking for productive ways to move forwards, and would welcome participation, partnerships or
suggestions.
We are constituted separately from Freedom2Choose (since we are fighting a different government and have experienced the ban for
over a year more than the rest of the UK).
